Agnes Obel
Agnes is a Danish singer/songwriter, she was raised in a musical environment and therefore has grown up to be a very talented musician. Agnes released her first album Philharmonics in 2010, this powerful album gave her international recognition and gave her prizes such as Best Debut Artist Of The Year and Best Female Artist Of The Year. Her second album Aventine was released in 2013 and there are some rumor about the third one coming out next year.
Her music is a wonderful exquisite combination of classical and contemporary music. Agnes versatility is clear in the way she includes and plays with both styles. Soothing, relaxing, happy music that transport you to a comfort zone, away from chaos, traffic and errands.
“The piano and the singing are two equal things to me – maybe not inseparable but very connected. You can say they are like two equal voices.” Agnes Obel
Crooked Colours
Crooked Colours is an Australian trio who describe their music as electro-acoustic Synth-tronica. Crooked Colours is a young band they have a few singles and an EP In Your Bones, listen to this youngsters because they will very likely be EVERYWHERE soon.
Their music is laid back and at least makes ME feel good and ready for a chill weekend with friends.
Glen Hansard
I´m profoundly in love with this Irish songwriter who you might recognise from the movie Once. Glen Hansard dropped out of school when he was 13 and played in the streets of Dublin looking for a future in the music industry. Since then he has recorded 9 albums and many EPs. His voice is sweet and his chords take me to a calm, worry free zone. His musical and vocal talent is beyond doubt.
Listen and go to your happy zone.
Dan Croll
Dan Croll is a british singer-songwriter who released his debut album on march of 2014. His music merges folk and electronica in a fresh way that makes it friendly to your shoes in order to dance to. He´s the perfect combination of two distant (we thought) genres, he is the border line. His music has an organic feel despite the electronic elements because of the outstanding accuracy he has. He fusions instruments and synth elements in the exact moment that the song naturally needs it.
My favorite one: Maway
Dillon
Dillon is a young exotic talented woman. She is Brazilian but grew up to be a pianist and singer in Germany and her music is just as exotic and surprising as her culture combination. She has released two albums, the first one in 2011 (This Silence Kills) and the second one in march 2014 (The Unknown) , both amazing.
Her voice has a very particular sound that im addicted to. Despite the complex lyrics and fusion of classical piano with electronic and house, her music results soothing to me but mainly just interesting. I could listen to her songs a thousand times and still not fully figure them out, there are many phases to each of them, jumping from melancholy to majestic hopeful sounds.
Hopefully you will enjoy and find her as interesting as i do.
Marian Hill
Marian Hill is a duo from Philadelphia. They create sensual, “dance to” electronic music. Their material is an addictive and spectacular fusion of electro and R&B. Although they don´t have a studio album im sure they will be in every dance club around the world in no time.
Their music simply makes me stand up and feel SEXY and ready to rage.
This is the soundtrack for your weekend:
Julien Doré
Julien Doré is a french talented singer -songwriter who rose to fame after winning a french singing reality show in 2007. Since then he has released 3 albums that have been a major success.
His 3 albums are very different from one another. Truth is the first one i don´t really like, I feel there´s a lot going on and an undefined style… but the last two, im in love with. His music is versatile, acoustics, electronica and crazy beats can be found all over his albums. Even though most songs are in french and i cant understand, his scratchy, sensual and tender voice successfully transmits his smooth laid back music style.
His latest single is Chou Wasabi, my favorite song of his so far…i´ve listened to it a thousand times.
JAMES BAY
James Bay is an amazing british singer songwriter and guitarist. He has 2 EPs: The Dark of Morning and this June he released Let It Go, which you can find on Spotify.
James Bay was discovered by Republic Records after performing at open mic bars, some time later he was flown to New York to sign a record deal…..so we hope we hear about a studio album soon.
His warm voice matches beautifully the romantically nostalgic lyrics of his songs.
Yes, I´m obsessed.
I hope you enjoy him as much as i do:
An acoustic session he played for Burberry:
